Register
to Vote for the 2005 Election
Register in person at Town Hall in the Office's of either the Registrar or the Town Clerk, or at the Public Library.

To qualify to register to vote, an application must be made demonstrating the applicant's qualifications to vote in Cheshire:

Must be at least 18 years of age on election day

United States Citizen
-
A resident of Cheshire, Connecticut:
applicant has a fixed home in Cheshire that they reside in the majority of the time,
or if absent intends to return to town.
The deadline for mail-in and walk-in applications for the November
8th election is October 25, 2005.

Absentee Ballots for the 2005 Election

For an application for an absentee ballot, call or mail:

To qualify for an absentee ballot, an application must be made
demonstrating the applicant's qualifications to vote in Cheshire and
a reason the applicant cannot appear at the polls on election day.
Valid reasons include:

Active service in the armed forces of the United States

Absence from town during all hours the polls are open on election day
-
Illness
-
Disability
-
Religious tenets that forbid secular activity on the day of the election

Duties as an elected official at a polling place other than his/her own during all hours the polls are open on election day
Although there is no deadline for mail-in and walk-in absenteee ballot applications for the November 8th election, please leave enough time for two round-trip-mailings so that your ballot is received at the Town Clerk's Office by 8:00 P.M. on election day.

Connecticut Voter's Bill of Rights
Every registered voter in this state has the right to:

Inspect a sample ballot before voting;

Receive instructions concerning how to operate voting equipment. on sample voting equipment before voting;

Cast a ballot if the voter is in line when the polls are closing;

Ask for and receive assistance in voting including assistance in languages other than English where required by federal or state law;

Vote free from coercion or intimidation by election officials or any other person; and
-
Cast a ballot using equipment that accurately counts all votes.
